James Hart Dykes recent paintings are intuitive and studio based. They result from random thoughts and experiences which are often related, emotionally or in terms of subject, to his travels and adventures. The paintings range from renderings of the human form juxtaposed with abstraction and devices influenced from his architectural studies, to a series of paintings of cakes where scale and paintwork become the essential ingredient. He continues to make narrative commissioned paintings of landscapes and country houses.
